The Bible says that obedience is better than sacrifice. Many church leaders today boast of holiness and obedience to God, but when it comes to money and tithing, that obedience often fades.
In the third step to silence the attackers of the church and its leaders, we established that tithes are meant for the Levites, widows, fatherless, and strangers. That is God’s clear instruction.
In Deuteronomy 26:12, the Bible says:
“When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow; that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled.”
Also in Malachi 3:10:
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house.”
This clearly shows that tithes are meant for welfare — “that there may be meat in my house” — not for buildings, projects, or personal enrichment.
The Error of Modern Church Practice
Today’s church leaders have turned the focus from people to projects. Instead of using tithes to feed and support those God commanded — the widows, the fatherless, and the Levites — the funds are often diverted to build halls, schools, and monuments.
Ironically, the widows and orphans whose blessings built these structures cannot even access them. Schools built with tithe money are too expensive for the children of the poor. This is not the will of God.
Tithe is for meat, not for buildings. While the needy starve, the resources that should sustain them are being used elsewhere. No one should blame the fatherless for straying or the widows for suffering — their portion was withheld, just as the Prince of Persia delayed Daniel’s blessing.
Why God’s Promises Seem Delayed
Many Christians wonder why God’s promises about tithing are not being fulfilled in their lives. The reason is simple: the receivers of tithes are disobeying God’s command in its implementation.
As long as tithes are not used according to Scripture, devourers — in the form of hardship, sickness, accidents, loss, or even death — will remain. Some churches say, “We help widows and orphans,” but remember this:
You cannot help someone with what already belongs to them.
You can only give them what is theirs by divine right.
Ending the Attacks Against Church Leaders
This misuse of tithes is a major reason why the church and its leaders face public criticism and attacks. To end these attacks, church leaders must return to the biblical purpose of tithes.
When the church begins to use tithes as God commanded, no one will accuse church leaders of enriching themselves with people’s money. Threats, curses, and arrests will not stop the attacks — only obedience will.
